Get ready to dive into the world of wind and aerodynamics with our hands-on Wind Tunnel Wonders activity—where you’ll see, feel, and understand the power of air like never before!

Content

Join us for an exciting adventure with our small wind tunnel! This hands-on activity will help you understand the fascinating world of aerodynamics and drag coefficient through interactive experiments.

  1. Exploring Turbulence and Wind Flow:
Start by playing with a small wool wire to observe the effects of turbulence, wind velocity, and direction. See how the wool moves and changes with different wind speeds.
  2. Understanding Wind Speed Measurement:
Learn about the Pitot tube, a common instrument used to measure wind speed. We’ll explain how it works in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
  3. Investigating Drag Coefficient:
Learn about the concept of the drag coefficient, which shows how easily an object moves through the air. For example, when you’re riding a bike, you feel the air resistance that slows you down as you go faster. This resistance is called drag. Test different shapes in the wind tunnel to see how much drag they experience.

Through these fun and educational activities, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how shapes and wind interact, and how engineers design objects to move more efficiently through the air. Come and explore the wonders of wind and aerodynamics with us!
