13:00–13:45 – Crack the Code, Take Down the Bad Cells!
Led by Anouk, a PhD researcher specialising in cancer immunology, children will discover how scientists investigate which white blood cells are present inside a tumour. Using an interactive single-cell puzzle, they will crack a DNA code themselves and try to identify the right cells. In this playful way, they will be introduced to cancer research and bioinformatics.
This workshop is held in Dutch.
17:00–17:45 – Meet the Immune System: The Battle Inside You!
Led by Hadis Shakeri, postdoctoral researcher at the Brussels Center for Immunology, children will discover how the immune system detects intruders and fights them off to protect the body. In an interactive and accessible way, they will learn about the different defence mechanisms of the human body and the essential role played by the immune system.
This workshop is held in Dutch, but assistants speaking French, Italian and English will also be present.
